About KD Williams

KD Williams has had a lifelong passion for history and museums - an enthusiasm that she continues to indulge in today. For the past 16 years, she has had the esteemed privilege to collaborate with renowned organizations such as The Burke Museum, Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), National Nordic Museum, Boeing's Museum of Flight, and Scandinavian Cultural Center. In 2021, she achieved two noteworthy certifications from the University of Washington: a Master of Arts in Museology and a professional certification in Museum Evaluation. Moreover, she graduated in 2019 from Pacific Lutheran University with a double major in Anthropology (with an emphasis on Archaeology) and Scandinavian Area Studies. Her educational pursuits were also complemented by minors in Geosciences, Norwegian Language studies, and Native American and Indigenous studies.

Since she was young, KD has been captivated by the art of sewing and designing garments inspired by past eras. In 2012, she became a board member of The Glamfolk—a 501(c)3 focused on Viking Age Living History education. An avid needleworker, KD is full of enthusiasm for the craftsmanship required to create exquisite historical garments that bring history to life.

Since 2016, KD (otherwise known as Kara) has actively participated in the Buhurt sport. In 2018, she had the amazing opportunity to join Team USA on their trip to Santa Severa, Italy, for the Battle of Nations competition and again a year later at Smederevo fortress in Serbia. Although she has partaken in some battles, her passion truly lies within aiding tournaments to run smoothly and offering her knowledge to the international buhurt community as a consultant for authenticity, marshaling safety standards, and even first aid when needed. With pride and enthusiasm, she readily serves the Medieval fighting communities and many other historical organizations from across the globe.
